Introduction

"Laurent Coq's fifth album « Spinnin' » is the first one with a trio piano - double-bass - drums ; indeed, the pianist plays alongside young drummer Otis Brown III (who regularly performs with Joe Lovano), and double-bass player Reuben Rogers who is currently very demanded ( Dianne Reeves, Joshua Redman, Charles Lloyd…). As in his previous albums, the pianist cares much about the form : the trio formation makes his music even more accessible, without making it less original. 5 compositions by Laurent Coq are, one more time, at the ""avant-garde"" of this French-American trend that carries on writing the history of jazz ; to be noticed, a beautiful tribute to Claude Nougaro with a cover version of « Toulouse ». Laurent Coq carries on ""spinnin"" ; the web will be beautiful !"
