Introduction

Django Reinhardt would have turned a hundred years old in 2010. His music goes beyond time and the talents of his son (Babik) and grandson (David) follow his steps as a giant of music.
This album pays a beautiful tribute to Django with those three amazing composers and guitar players entitled “Nuvens de Saudade” (a title written by Babik Reinhardt in memory of his father).

As you listen to Django’s recordings, you are first surprised by his powerful way to play, the energy of his inspiration and the coherence of his work. Django has always taken risks to create new forms and innovate new sounds as he is undoubtably the best guitar player of all times.

Even if his father belongs to the giants of music, Babik Reinhardt has elaborated his own style much closer to the American way of playing than in the style of “gipsy jazz”. However, you will see the links between Babik and his father in the fullness of the sounds of the guitar and in his talents as composer (All Love, Une Histoire Simple…)
David, as well, has developed his own style, free from references to his background, far from his father’s way to play. However, you can still see the inheritance of the family’s gift for music in the luminous way he plays his instrument with a musicality full of shades, of dynamic with a sense of story-telling.
